 60th Annual Halloween Parade

A Huge Success

The 60th annual Woburn Host Lions Halloween Parade held on Sunday, October 26th was a great success.  Over 20 bands and more than 80 floats combined to make this the largest parade ever held in Woburn.  It is estimated that more than 80,000 people watched as a total of 4000 participants marched down Main St. under a mostly sunny sky.  Some of the most impressive bands ever assembled took part in this year's parade including the UNH Wildcats Marching Band, Spaulding High School, Jumbalaya Jazz Band, Highlanders Fife and Drum, Alvarine High School, Wilmington High, Burlington High, Dighton Rehoboth, Woburn High, Randolph High School and many, many more.   The Hallamore Clydesdale horses and the Shriners Mini Haulers were also hugely popular and the local school floats were truly impressive.

Besides entertaining kids and adults alike, a main goal of the event is to raise funds for Massachusetts Lions Eye Research.  These funds enable the medical research staffs of institutions such as Tufts Medical, Boston University, Schepens Institute and Massachusetts Eye and Ear to find cures for eye diseases and to develop new treatment methods for traumatic eye injuries.  As in years past, the parade viewers donated generously to the cause, making this year the best one ever held.

The Woburn Host Lions would like to thank everyone who worked so dilligently to make the parade a success and especially all of the sponsors and individual contributors who gave so generously.

Plans are already under way for next year's event.  Save the date:  Sunday, October 25, 2015
