 Woburn Host Lions Club Honored

Donations to Eye Research Fund Exceed $500,000

The Woburn Host Lion's Club was recently honored by the officers of Lions District 33N for having donated over $500,000 to the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund.  The Host Lions are one of only four Lions clubs in the State to have ever surpassed this goal.

The money raised for this fund comes primarily from the annual Halloween Parade.  Contributions from local business and civic organizations help defray the cost of the parade, and all donations collected during the event are earmarked for the research fund.  This year alone, over $17,000 was collected during the parade and subsequently donated.  To see a list of the businesses, civic organizations and individuals who supported the 2013 parade, click here

The fund enables the medical research staffs of institutions such as Tufts Medical, Boston University, Schepens Institute and Massachusetts Eye and Ear to find cures for eye diseases and to develop new treatment methods for traumatic eye injuries.
